Founded in January 2012, Best of the Bayou was created to celebrate “Louisiana’s Bayou Country” and place it on “the map” by showcasing the best in music, food, arts and culture of the region. The free festival took place Sept. 29-30, 2012 and hosted 25 bands–hailing from the bayou, as well as New Orleans and Acadiana regions-on two stages in the historic downtown area of Houma, LA. The festival also included over a dozen food and beverage booths, a festival marketplace, and an indoor “sports bar.”
